Airline condemns sanctions
Fly Baghdad requests evidence from U.S. on arms transfers to Syria
BAGHDAD, January 23 – Leaders of Iraq-based airline Fly Baghdad have condemned a United States Treasury Department decision to sanction the company and its CEO for providing support to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and related groups.
The company claims the U.S. decision was not based on material evidence and that all its passenger transport operations are under the supervision of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority.
In a statement received by 964media, Fly Baghdad responded to the sanctions, which allege the company’s involvement in transporting military equipment, personnel, and funds for Kata’ib Hezbollah and Asa’ib Ahl Al-Haq.
The company further requested material evidence from Washington to substantiate the claims.
