Shepherd, municipal workers clash in Altun Kupri, leaving four injured
KIRKUK — Four municipal workers were injured Thursday in Altun Kupri after a dispute with a shepherd escalated into violence, a local municipal official told 964media.
The incident began Thursday morning as municipal workers drove a cleaning vehicle along a street in Altun Kupri, northwest of Kirkuk.
“As the vehicle moved, a flock of sheep unexpectedly crossed the road, and the driver honked to clear the way,” the official said. “The shepherd became furious and struck the vehicle’s windshield with his staff, shattering the glass.”
After the workers exited their vehicle, a heated argument erupted, quickly turning into a physical fight. Several associates of the shepherd arrived at the scene and attacked the workers, injuring four of them in the hands, legs and faces, the official added.
The injured workers received medical treatment and were later discharged. They have since filed a formal complaint against the shepherd and his accomplices, and local authorities are pursuing legal action.
