"God Supports the Believers"

Al-Nujaba Movement Responds to U.S. Sanctions

BAGHDAD, 23 January — Al-Nujaba Movement has issued a statement in response to recent actions by what the movement refers to as “the axis of evil” led by the United States and its allies. The U.S. Treasury Department recently imposed sanctions on MP Hussein Munis and Salah Al-Maksousi, the airforce commander in the Popular Mobilization Forces.

In the statement, the Al-Nujaba Movement expressed its solidarity with both Munis and Al-Maksousi against what it described as a “content-empty” decision. The movement emphasized its resilience and determination to “stand firm against oppressors, guided by the belief that God supports them and the faithful”.

The statement provided:

We assure our great people that we are following the path of our noble Imams in standing with the truth against falsehood, no matter the circumstances and regardless of the enemies’ alliance. Especially in these days when the axis of evil, represented by America and its contemptible allies, has declared war against all the righteous in the axis of resistance.

The latest of these is the U.S. Treasury’s statement imposing sanctions on Deputy Hussein Munis and the leader in the Popular Mobilization Forces, Mr. Salah Al-Maksousi. While we declare our support for them against this content-empty decision, we also affirm that God is with us and with them. We will, God willing, be equal to the oppressors and strong men, no matter their plots and plans. God supports the believers.
