Three young family members killed as car plunges into river in Basra
BASRA — Two young girls and a 17‑year‑old from the same family died Saturday after their car overturned into a branch of the river in Al-Musahib, an area in northern Basra’s Al-Hartha district.
According to a security source told 964media, residents rescued the father, who was driving, and his wife before authorities retrieved the three bodies and pulled the vehicle from the riverbank.
The incident occurred when the father, driving on an unpaved road, lost control, causing the car to veer left and plunge into the river. The parents were taken to a hospital for treatment, while the victims’ bodies were transferred to the forensic department.
