Fallout from Ain Al-Assad base bombing

Kataib Hezbollah to Iraqi Army spox: ‘Stay professional’

BAGHDAD, 21 January – Abu Ali Al-Askari, the security official of the Kataib Hezbollah, has issued a statement offering a starkly different perspective on the recent Ain Al-Assad base incident, directly responding to Major General Yahya Rasool’s comments earlier today.

The statement follows Major General Yahya Rasool’s announcement regarding the injury of an Iraqi soldier in a rocket attack at the Ain Al-Assad base. Rasool, serving as the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, emphasized the injury and damage caused at the base and assured that efforts were underway to capture the perpetrators.

Contradicting Rasool, Al-Askari claimed that the Iraqi soldier’s injury was actually a ‘result of American Patriot missiles’, suggesting an internal mishap and not an external attack.

The statement also criticized some government spokespeople for becoming a tool in the hands of “enemy forces,” presumably referring to the United States. Earlier today,

Rasool had vowed to find the perpetrators of last night’s attack on Ain Al-Assad Airbase.

Full statement below:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Amidst the recent developments in the region, which would not have been possible without the American support for the Zionist entity, an entity that attempts to escape forward whenever its options narrow, and the blows of the resistance intensify. It is hoped that it finds an outlet, confirming the necessity to continue escalating the pace of operations and responding firmly and decisively to the crimes of the Zionists.

Therefore, we state the following:

First: The brethren in the Islamic resistance will continue to strike the fortresses of the enemies until the achievement of the declared goals from the outset, and they will respond in kind, if not more. (That is a promise not untrue) [This is a verse of Quran].

Second: Some government speakers should preserve a portion — even if small — of professional ethics and not become a tool in the hands of the enemies, for the people and history will not forgive.

Thirdly: The soldier who was wounded yesterday, mourned by the Americans and their lackeys, was actually injured by American Patriot missiles. Those who claim to be vigilant should condemn the American enemy.

Fourthly: We extend condolences to the Revolutionary Guard for the martyrdom of a group of mujahideen due to the Zionist bombing in Syria yesterday. Here, we call upon them to respond to the Zionist brutality resolutely, intensely, and directly. Without such response, these aggressors will not be deterred from their tyranny and arrogance.
