Six medical workers disciplined over ‘negligence’ at Choman District Hospital
ERBIL — Four doctors and two ambulance drivers at Choman District Hospital in Erbil governorate have been disciplined for failing to provide proper care and timely transportation to a patient, a source at the Soran Health Directorate told 964media.
“The doctors showed negligence in treating the patient, and the two ambulance drivers were not available when needed to transfer the patient from Choman to Soran,” the source said.
The disciplinary measures were issued by the General Directorate of Health in Soran after an incident that occurred at Choman Hospital on the night of Feb. 28.
The negligence drew attention after a relative of the patient publicly raised concerns on social media, prompting the Soran Health Directorate to investigate and take action against those involved.
The patient, a resident of the Qasre subdistrict, initially visited a local health center due to a medical emergency and was then transferred to Choman Hospital. However, when doctors recommended further transfer to a hospital in Soran, ambulance drivers were unavailable. The patient’s family eventually transported him in their own vehicle to Aso Hospital in Soran.
