Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar at 45°C with four northern governorates in the 30s
BAGHDAD — Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar are forecast at 45°C on Wednesday while Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Nineveh stay in the 30s, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.
Muthanna and Diwaniyah are expected at 44°C, Babil and Wasit 43°C, and Baghdad, Diyala and Karbala 42°C. In the north, Kirkuk is forecast at 40°C, Erbil and Nineveh 39°C, and Duhok and Sulaymaniyah 36°C.
Skies will be generally clear with scattered cloud over northern areas at night. Winds are light to moderate northwesterly at 10 to 20 km/h with calm periods, particularly in the east of the north and south, and visibility 8 to 10 km.
Clear weather continues through Saturday. Winds strengthen to 20 to 30 km/h on Friday with dust possible in central Iraq, before temperatures ease slightly in the centre and south on Saturday and by several degrees in the north.
