Diwaniyah authorities shut down pastry factory using expired ingredients
DIWANIYAH — Health authorities shut down an unlicensed pastry and confectionery factory Wednesday after inspectors discovered expired ingredients being used, according to the local health directorate.
The Diwaniyah Health Directorate said in a statement that the factory, located in the residential Al-Orouba neighborhood, was operating in violation of health regulations and posed a direct threat to public health.
The inspection, carried out in coordination with the National Security Agency, was part of ongoing efforts to detect and eliminate food safety violations in the area.
Authorities cited Public Health Law No. 89 of 1981 as the basis for closing the facility and referred the factory’s owner to judicial authorities for further legal action.
Inspections will continue throughout Diwaniyah, officials said, as part of efforts to ensure the safety of food products and protect consumers.
