Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar back to 45°C
BAGHDAD — Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar are forecast at 45°C on Thursday as temperatures edge up across Iraq, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.
Baghdad, Karbala, Diyala, Diwaniyah, Najaf, Wasit, Babil and Muthanna are expected to reach 44°C, Salah al-Din 43°C, and Nineveh, Anbar and Kirkuk 42°C. In the Kurdistan Region, Erbil is forecast at 40°C and Sulaymaniyah and Duhok at 38°C.
Skies will be clear across most of the country with cloud over the mountains in the Region. Northwesterly winds are forecast at 10 to 20 km/h, strengthening to about 30 km/h in the south and possibly raising light dust in desert areas, with visibility of 8 to 10 km falling to 5 to 7 km where dust is blowing.
