Heavy snowfall hits Kurdistan Region’s mountainous areas

SORAN — Areas in Soran have seen significant snowfall in recent days with recent weather forecasts predicting heavy snow in the Kurdistan Region’s mountainous districts.

Residents reported continuous snowfall over two days, affecting various parts of the area.

Snow has covered all six districts within the Soran Administration, with Mergasor district recording the highest amount at 23 centimeters.

Schools, institutes, and universities were closed on Monday to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the challenging weather conditions.
