Police arrest motorcycle theft gang in Baghdad’s Al-Zuhur neighborhood

BAGHDAD — Police in Baghdad’s Al-Rusafa arrested three suspects on Wednesday in connection with motorcycle thefts in the Al-Zuhur neighborhood.

According to a statement, the arrests were carried out by the Al-Zuhur Anti-Crime Office under the supervision of the Al-Rusafa police commander. The operation followed a report from a citizen whose motorcycle had been stolen by unidentified individuals who fled the scene.

Authorities formed a task force, obtained the necessary legal permissions, and conducted investigations that included surveillance and review of security camera footage. This led to a operation resulting in the suspects’ arrest.

During interrogation, the individuals confessed to committing multiple thefts. They were placed in detention pending the completion of legal procedures.

Police in Diwaniyah announced Monday the arrest of a six-member gang accused of stealing motorcycles, after tracking their movements and catching them in the act with dismantled bikes in their possession.
