Man found dead after going missing; debt dispute suspected

WASIT — Police in the Al-Suwaira district of Wasit governorate found the body of a missing man Tuesday in an abandoned house, with initial reports suggesting he was killed during a dispute over a debt.

The victim, identified as Sheikh Fuad Kadhim, was in his sixties and worked in the used car trade. He was reported missing a day earlier, according to residents of the Hafriyah subdistrict.

“He had been missing since yesterday, and it later turned out he was shot dead by someone he had gone to in order to recover a debt,” a resident told 964media.

The body was discovered near Al-Razi Hospital in Al-Suwaira. Police said the investigation is ongoing. It was not immediately clear whether a suspect had been arrested.
