Worker dies after scaffolding collapse in Tuz Khurmatu

TUZ KHURMATU — A 27-year-old construction worker was killed and another seriously injured after falling from scaffolding in the Yasribi subdistrict of Tuz Khurmatu, located in Salah al-Din governorate, local officials said Thursday.

Hamza Obeidi, media officer for the District Administration, told 964media, “The incident happened on one of the streets in the subdistrict. The two workers, like every day, went to work and were on top of a private residential building. One of the scaffold beams gave way beneath them, and they both fell.”

He said the accident took place while the workers were actively engaged in construction. “One of them struck his head on an iron beam during the fall and died instantly,” Obeidi said. “The other was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.”

The deceased worker was a resident of Yasribi, a father of three.
