French firm proposes new plant nursery in Erbil

ERBIL, August 9 — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Agriculture announced this week that a French company has presented a proposal to construct a plant nursery on a 25-donum (approximately 6.2-acre) plot in Erbil.

Ministry officials held a meeting with the French company’s representatives on August 8 to discuss plans for the site.

Hiwa Ali, media representative for the Ministry of Agriculture, told 964: “The ministry intends to provide all necessary facilities to investors to carry out horticultural projects, aiming to develop the green belt of Erbil.”

“The nursery is set to produce ornamental trees, crops, and forests using modern, scientific methods. A meeting with the company is scheduled soon to discuss the mechanisms for initiating the nursery’s construction.”

According to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture, there are 14 nurseries producing trees for forests and 16 nurseries producing trees for gardening purposes in the Kurdistan region.
