Rain and thunderstorms forecast across Iraq from Tuesday

BAGHDAD — Rain is expected to spread across Iraq this week, starting in the west on Tuesday, with occasional thunderstorms and the heaviest showers on Wednesday and Thursday, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said Sunday.

Sunday will be mostly clear in the center and partly cloudy in the north and south, with isolated light showers possible, and temperatures rising slightly in central and southern governorates. Monday will bring mostly clear skies, light and variable winds and temperatures similar to Sunday’s. On Tuesday, skies will be partly cloudy, with light rain and occasional thunderstorms possible in the west and southeasterly winds at light to moderate speeds. Wednesday will bring more cloud and light rain, mainly in the west but extending north and south, with temperatures rising slightly in the center and south and falling in the north. Thursday will stay cloudy, with light to moderate rain and occasional thunderstorms, and temperatures falling slightly in the center and north.

Days will be mild and nights and early mornings cooler, and visibility will generally be good but could drop during rain or dust, the organization said.
