Kurdistan Region’s travel sector remains unaffected despite attacks: tourism board

ERBIL, January 17 — Despite recurrent drone and missile attacks, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) asserts that tourist arrivals to the region remain unaffected.

In the face of heightened security concerns, particularly in the past two months, the region’s tourism board revealed to 964media that the number of tourists visiting the Kurdistan Region has continued to rise annually.

Tourism board spokesperson Ibrahim Abdulmajid said that based on their statistics, tourist numbers witnessed a 20 percent increase in 2023 compared to the preceding year.

The Kurdistan Region welcomed 2,549,763 tourists in 2023.
