Dozens hospitalized for respiratory issues as dust storms hit Kirkuk
KIRKUK — Hospitals across Kirkuk reported dozens of respiratory-related emergency cases Thursday as dust storms swept through the governorate, according to the Kirkuk Health Directorate.
Azadi Teaching Hospital received 23 patients, Kirkuk Teaching Hospital treated 36, and Daquq General Hospital admitted 60, the directorate said in a statement. All hospitals remain fully operational and on standby to receive additional patients if needed.
Health officials said hospitals and emergency centers had enacted preemptive measures to manage the expected surge in respiratory complications. “These measures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth delivery of medical services to citizens,” the statement read.
“All health institutions in the governorate are operating at full capacity,” the directorate added, emphasizing continued coordination among facilities to provide necessary care.
