Explosive-laden drone targets Harir Base in Kurdistan Region

ERBIL, January 5– The Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate (CTD) has confirmed an attack on the Harir military base in Erbil Governorate today, January 5, 2024, at approximately 4:29 AM, through an explosive-laden drone. Alongside confirming the attack, CTD did not provide any further details regarding the extent of the damage or casualties incurred.

At the time of the attack, an eyewitness told 964media that loud explosion was heard near the Harir airbase and smoke followed the explosion “the explosion was quite powerful, with smoke rising from the airbase’s cabins”.

The Harir airbase, previously used as a base for coalition forces, has been targeted several times by drone attacks, often heard as distant rumblings in the vicinity.
