Ambulance falls into canal after collision in Wasit

WASIT — An ambulance from the immediate response unit veered off the Kut-Baghdad Road and plunged into a water canal near the Battar area, north of Kut, after being forced off course by a Kia cargo truck transporting gas, the Wasit Health Directorate said.

Ali Al-Aboudi, the directorate’s media official, told 964media that the gas truck pushed the ambulance off the road when the driver tried to avoid a collision. The driver, in his forties, sustained fractures in both legs and was transported to Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital in Kut.

Authorities confirmed that no patient was in the ambulance at the time of the accident. The vehicle was later recovered from the canal.
