Twelve injured in collision between minibus and sedan near Smaquli
ERBIL — Twelve people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a traffic accident involving a minibus and a sedan near the Smaquli in Erbil’s Koya, according to hospital officials. Several of the injured were transferred to Shaheed Dr. Khalid Hospital, with others possibly being moved to nearby facilities for further treatment.
Nashet Mohammed, spokesperson for the emergency unit at Shaheed Dr. Khalid Hospital, told 964media, “A traffic accident just occurred, and six of the injured were brought to our hospital. Others may still be transferred depending on their condition.”
He added, “All patients at our facility have been fully treated and are now stable. They will be discharged shortly.”
The accident took place on one of the region’s main roads, which has seen increased congestion due to the Eid holidays and spring tourism. Local officials say the seasonal influx of visitors to areas like Smaquli is leading to more traffic and a higher risk of road accidents.
In a separate incident earlier today, a father and his daughter were killed, and two other family members were injured in a rollover crash on the Said Sadiq–Penjwen road near the village of Kachal.
