Discount on electricity bills implemented in Erbil and Duhok

ERBIL, August 17 — A 15-percent discount on electricity bills went into effect on Wednesday for residents in Erbil and Duhok, following a similar decision in Sulaymaniyah in July.

The discount is expected to last though November 15.

A statement from the Erbil Provincial Council, said:

We have sent a letter to the Regional Council of Ministers to cancel a portion of the electricity debts [owed by] citizens in the governorates of Erbil and Dohuk, similar to Sulaymaniyah.

The Regional Council of Ministers approved Document No. (10074) and the Regional Prime Minister approved the request of the Provincial Council on August 15, 2023. The exemption will be 15% and will last for three months.
