‘You find yourselves incarcerated in the cells of the corrupt’

Muqtada Al-Sadr sends message to Sadrist movement detainees

BAGHDAD, February 2– Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist Movement, addressed detainees of the movement in a message disseminated during Friday prayer sermons across various governorates today.

In the message, which was published by al-Sadr’s office Al-Sadr invokes a Quranic verse to express solidarity with the imprisoned members of his movement. It reads:

A message from the leader Muqtada al-Sadr (may God bless him), addressed to his incarcerated Sadrist brethren, conveyed through the Friday prayer.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

“My Lord, the prison is more beloved to me than what they are calling me to.'”

To those confined within prison confines, take solace in the example set by your Prophet and your Imam. You find yourselves incarcerated in the cells of the corrupt. To those who advocate for reform, persevere in your pursuit, and in the face of prolonged imprisonment, resist the temptation of corruption, for God does not favor such wrongdoing.
