Heat persists across Iraq with strong winds, dusty conditions in parts of Anbar

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority reported Wednesday that the country remains under the influence of a surface thermal low-pressure system and a dry air mass, maintaining hot to extremely hot weather and mostly clear skies, with occasional cloud cover, particularly in the north.

Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged from the previous day, with slight decreases anticipated in parts of the central region and the Kurdistan Region, according to the authority’s daily bulletin.

Winds will generally be northwesterly and light to moderate, ranging between 10 to 20 km/h. However, stronger gusts are forecast in southern and southwestern areas, especially in western and northern Anbar, where speeds may reach 40 km/h and stir up dust in desert regions.

Horizontal visibility is expected to range from 8 to 10 kilometers in most areas but may drop to between 3 and 5 kilometers in zones affected by dust activity.
