Video transcripts:
“I was watching TV while my two children, a boy and a girl, were in their rooms with their nannies. We were upstairs, a group of five, while my husband was entertaining a guest downstairs, a friend named Karam from a well-known family in Baghdad who now lives in Dubai. My older son, Roj, was with them. They had finished their meal, and one of our housemaids was also with them. When they called me, I instructed the maids to go downstairs and asked only one, Arly, to stay with them. She agreed.
Suddenly, I witnessed the ceiling collapsing multiple times. Amidst this chaos, I heard verses from the Quran in my head, though I couldn’t identify which ones. In a state of panic and prayer, I called out to God for help. Voices were shouting for a doctor, urging me to keep my feet down, and before I knew it, I was in an ambulance.
Everything at home had been normal before this incident. My husband, Abu Roj, [Peshraw Dizeyi], had been exercising between 5:30 and 7:00 PM. I had put the kids to bed and then stayed up. My husband had guests and was downstairs. There were no signs of anything amiss. This is our house in Erbil, where we live permanently. We had recently returned from a holiday in Dubai during the school break.”
