Prime Minister calls to celebrate Iraqi team’s victory over Japan

BAGHDAD, January 19 — Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani congratulated the national football team on their victory over Japan in the Asian Cup finals.

In a phone call, he spoke with Adnan Darjal, president of the Iraqi Football Association. Darjal is currently in Doha, Qatar, accompanying the team.

Al-Sudani expressed the collective joy of the Iraqi people over the team’s triumph.

He also announced a financial reward for the players and coaching staff.

The Prime Minister encouraged the team to use this victory as motivation for future matches. He emphasized the importance of striving for results that would enhance Iraq’s chances of advancing to the final stage of the competition.

Iraq famously won the Asian Cup in 2007, with a fairytale run that included impressive wins against Australia, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.
