Duhok’s Kani Masi records two decades of climate data
DUHOK, January 10 — In the sub-district of Kani Masi, part of Duhok, a detailed study of agricultural climate data spanning over two decades has revealed significant insights into patterns of snowfall and rainfall in the region. Saleh Hamdi, the director of the sub-district, shared this comprehensive data with 964media, highlighting the climatic trends from 2000 to 2023.
According to Hamdi’s report, Kani Masi experienced a total of 21,856 centimeters of snow and rain combined over the 23-year period. The years 2018 and 2019 are marked as particularly notable, recording the highest levels of seasonal rainfall and snowfall, with a cumulative total of 1,688 centimeters.
In contrast, the data indicates that the lowest precipitation levels occurred between 2007 and 2008, during which Kani Masi saw a total of 544 centimeters of snow and rain. This substantial fluctuation in precipitation levels over the years provides valuable insights into the climatic variations experienced in the region.
