Iraq to face Palestine in World Cup qualifier Tuesday
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s national soccer team will face Palestine on Tuesday at Amman International Stadium as part of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kickoff is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. local time. The match comes as Iraq looks to strengthen its position in Group B, where it currently sits in third place with 12 points from seven matches. Palestine is in sixth place with just three points.
Iraq completed its final training session in Basra on Sunday before traveling to Jordan for the match. In its most recent qualifier on Thursday, Iraq came from two goals down to draw with Kuwait.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The Iraqi Football Association said the team will wear its full green kit for the match, with the goalkeeper in yellow. Palestine will wear all white, and its goalkeeper will wear black.
