Kurdistan Region Presidency denies rumors about President Nechirvan Barzani’s health

ERBIL – The Kurdistan Region Presidency has dismissed rumors circulating on social and traditional media about the health of President Nechirvan Barzani, labeling the claims as baseless.

“These claims are entirely false, and President Nechirvan Barzani is carrying out his responsibilities as usual,” said Dilshad Shahab, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, in a statement.

The presidency’s statement comes in response to allegations that have surfaced online, and reaffirms that President Barzani remains actively engaged in his duties.

The presidency reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged the public to rely on official channels for accurate information, cautioning against misinformation spreading through unofficial sources.

In recent days, rumors circulated on social media and republished by Iraqi media outlet BaghdadToday citing an alleged source claiming President Barzani suffered a heart attack during his recent visit to France.

On Dec. 8, President Barzani attended the reopening ceremony of the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. During the event, he appeared healthy and energetic as he engaged with global figures, including U. S. President-elect Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
