22-year-old man drowns in Kirkuk

KIRKUK — A 22-year-old man drowned Tuesday morning while swimming in the Dubz water project, in the Kirkuk governorate, authorities said. His body was later recovered.

A source from the Dubz Police Station told 964media that the young man, a Kirkuk resident employed as a laborer in the village of Masherfa, entered the water to cool off amid high temperatures but tragically drowned.

“The villagers retrieved the body and sent it to the forensic medical center in Kirkuk,” the source added.

Kirkuk health officials reported to 964media that seven people have drowned in the governorate over the past 45 days,
