'Vital part' of community

Penjwen to establish association for motorcyclists

PENJWEN – The district commissioner of Penjwen in Sulaymaniyah convened a meeting of motorcycle riders to enhance their safety and form an official association.

The office of the Penjwen commissioner reports that the district hosts about 200 motorcycle riders engaged in a variety of activities including commerce, sports, adventure, assistance, and delivery services.

Zana Rahman, the district commissioner, told 964media that motorcycle riders are a vital part of the community, prompting the assembly.

“Our aim is for all motorcycle riders to be safe and united in an association to tackle any challenges or issues they encounter,” Rahman said.

He added that this assembly is a component of the Penjwen City of Learning initiative, which has previously involved various community groups such as merchants, clergy, educators, government officials, civilians, and military personnel for essential dialogue.

The commissioner announced plans to hold a competition for motorcycle riders following their organization. He highlighted a recent incident where a motorcycle rider extinguished a mountain fire, unreachable by fire services, illustrating the community’s potential impact.

A committee comprising young attendees from the meeting was established to manage motorcycle usage within the district.
