Baghdad forces seize armored vehicle with fake IDs, hidden compartments

BAGHDAD — Security forces in Baghdad said Thursday they had seized an armored vehicle vehicle described as suspicious and detained its driver after discovering forged documents and concealed mechanisms inside.

In a statement, Baghdad Operations Command said, “A suspect driving an armored Tahoe was stopped by Karkh police patrols after raising suspicion. He was found carrying forged IDs, and upon inspection, the vehicle contained a modern mechanism to conceal license plates, in addition to a safe equipped with secret numbers and symbols used to transport and hide weapons, ammunition, and prohibited materials.”

The statement added that the discovery came as part of “security duties and search operations conducted by our formations across the capital to enhance security and stability and to prevent anyone from tampering with the safety of citizens.
