Hot, humid conditions to persist with slight chance of rain in Basra, Maysan

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority said Monday that the country will see hot to extremely hot summer weather across most regions, with generally clear skies and periods of scattered clouds. The report said cloud cover will increase over central and southern areas, with chances of slight thunderstorms in areas in Basra and Maysan.

Temperatures will be similar to those recorded Sunday, with slight decreases in some locations. Winds will be northwesterly at 10–20 km/h, remaining southeasterly and humid in Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar.

Horizontal visibility is expected to range between 8–10 km in most areas, dropping to 4–6 km in parts of southern and eastern Iraq due to dust and pollution, the report said.
