Wetter week ahead across Iraq as temperatures ease
BAGHDAD — Rain is forecast across parts of Iraq over the coming days, with temperatures easing and wetter conditions developing by Tuesday, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said Friday.
Saturday will be partly cloudy with light showers in scattered areas. Temperatures are expected to fall slightly in the south and stay broadly unchanged in central and northern Iraq.
Saturday highs are forecast at 24 C in Sulaymaniyah, 27 C in Duhok, 28 C in Erbil, 29 C in Kirkuk, 31 C in Salah Al-Din and Anbar, 32 C in Nineveh and 34 C in Baghdad.
The south will remain hotter, with highs of 35 C in Karbala, 36 C in Babil and Najaf, 37 C in Diwaniyah, Wasit and Muthanna, 39 C in Dhi Qar, 40 C in Maysan and 41 C in Basra.
On Sunday, central and southern Iraq will be partly cloudy and the north mostly clear with some clouds. Light showers are forecast in scattered locations, particularly in western parts of the central region, with little change in temperatures.
Monday will be cloudy with light showers in places and temperatures close to Sunday’s.
Rain is forecast to become more widespread Tuesday, with central and southern Iraq turning cloudy with showers of varying intensity and the north cloudy and rainy. Temperatures will fall slightly across the country.
