New billion-dinar park breaks ground in Erbil
ERBIL, November 29 — The cornerstone of Erbil’s next public park was laid in the Zhyan neighborhood on Tuesday, with an estimated cost of one billion Iraqi dinars once construction is completed.
Spanning an expansive 19,000 square meters, the park’s construction is expected to one year to complete, utilizing funds from the Erbil Municipality’s revenue.
Erbil Governor Omid Khoshnaw told 964 the park’s construction will adhere to a contemporary design, featuring amenities such as cycling and sports facilities.
Approximately 19.5 percent of Erbil is comprised of green spaces, a figure reflecting ongoing initiatives to establish additional gardens and parks throughout neighborhoods and public spaces within the governorate.
Zhyan neighborhood, situated on the road to Kirkuk, stands as one of Erbil’s recently developed areas, further contributing to the city’s evolving landscape.
