Iraqi Airways to launch weekly Basra-Baku direct flight
BAGHDAD — Iraqi Airways will launch its first direct flight between Basra and Baku on Wednesday, introducing a weekly service as part of efforts to expand its international network and meet growing travel demand.
Manaf Abdul Moneim, the airline’s director general, said the route will operate once a week as part of the carrier’s plans to broaden its international destinations.
“The first direct flight between Basra and Baku will depart tomorrow, Wednesday, with one flight per week, as part of the company’s plans to expand its international destination network and meet the growing demand for travel,” Abdul Moneim said in a statement.
He said the route responds to increased seasonal demand and will give travelers from Basra and other southern governorates direct access to Baku, which he described as one of the region’s leading tourist destinations.
