IRGC shells village in Penjwen, Sulaymaniyah, rights group says
SULAYMANIYAH — The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps shelled Qalandarawa village in the Garmik subdistrict of Penjwen on Tuesday evening, according to Community Peacemaker Teams – Iraqi Kurdistan, an American human rights organization.
The shelling occurred in three separate rounds between 5:20 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. No casualties were reported, though the statement said the attacks caused fear among residents.
The incident adds to a toll of at least 196 drone, missile and rocket attacks that have struck the Kurdistan Region since the war began Feb. 28, killing four people and injuring 19, according to a CPT-IK monitoring report released Sunday. The attacks have targeted the U.S. Consulate, military bases, Iranian Kurdish opposition headquarters, Erbil International Airport, oil fields, hotels, residential areas, telecom towers and Peshmerga sites.
