Interior Ministry’s Anti-Disinformation unit conducts awareness campaign in Baghdad’s Jameela District
BAGHDAD, November 5 — Members of the Disinformation Combat Unit under the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior spread out in the streets of the Jameela district in Baghdad on Sunday to combat misleading information disseminated through social media and its negative impact on society.
Statement from the Ministry of Interior, received by Network 964:
“The Disinformation Combat Unit, a part of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, organized an awareness campaign within the Jameela district in the Al-Rusafa side of Baghdad.
During this campaign, unit members met with several citizens and discussed the amount of misleading information circulating on social media and the detrimental use of such information, which contributes to the spread and promotion of rumors in society.
They emphasized the necessity of obtaining news from official sources and accredited channels.
Furthermore, informative brochures on the risks of disinformation and hotlines provided by the Ministry of Interior were distributed to the citizens.”
