Iraq’s Shia Coordination Framework condemns Israeli strike on Doha

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Coordination Framework, the coalition of Shia parties that leads the government, on Tuesday condemned what it called “the treacherous Israeli aggression that targeted the Qatari capital, Doha,” saying the strike killed a Hamas delegation.

In a statement, the group called the attack “a dangerous precedent” and “a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Qatar, a flagrant assault on international laws and norms, and an outrageous challenge to all human values.”

Israel said it carried out a “precise strike” in Doha using intelligence and munitions against senior Hamas leaders, including figures involved in ceasefire talks. The strike reportedly hit during a scheduled Hamas leadership meeting.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani spoke by phone with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, denouncing what he called “the heinous Zionist aggression that targeted the brotherly State of Qatar,” according to a statement from his office. He said the attack was “a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter, and a dangerous escalation aimed at expanding the conflict in the region.”

The Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning the strike, calling it a “cowardly act” and a “blatant violation” of Qatari sovereignty.

The Coordination Framework strongly condemns, in the harshest terms, the treacherous Israeli aggression that targeted the Qatari capital, Doha, claiming the lives of a delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). This dangerous precedent constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Qatar, a flagrant assault on international laws and norms, and an outrageous challenge to all human values.

This criminal act once again affirms the nature of the Zionist entity, founded on terrorism and aggression, and reflects an expansionist tendency that extends beyond the borders of Palestine, aiming to destabilize the security and stability of the entire region. It also represents a direct affront to the mediation and peace efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar, exposing Israel’s deliberate intentions to thwart any initiative aimed at halting the aggression against the defenseless Palestinian people.

While the Coordination Framework expresses its full solidarity with the State of Qatar and its esteemed people, it holds the Zionist entity fully responsible for the consequences of this grave aggression. It calls upon the international community, particularly the United Nations and the Security Council, to assume their legal and moral responsibilities in putting an end to the recklessness of the Zionist entity and deterring it from its repeated crimes.

The Framework also reiterates its unwavering stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people—their right to resist occupation, to gain freedom, and to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
