Hot to very hot conditions forecast across the country
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s meteorological authority said Tuesday the country is experiencing hot to very hot summer weather across all regions, with mostly clear skies and occasional scattered clouds. The report noted increased cloud cover over the central and southern regions, with chances of thunderstorms in the south.
The authority forecast maximum temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius in Al-Muthanna and Dhi Qar governorates, 49 degrees in Basra, Maysan, Najaf, Wasit, Diwaniyah, Karbala and Anbar, and 48 degrees in Baghdad, Diyala and Babil. Northern governorates will see lower temperatures, including 41 degrees in Sulaymaniyah and 43 in Dohuk.
Winds in most regions are expected to be light to moderate, with speeds ranging between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour. Visibility will generally range between 5 and 10 kilometers, decreasing to between 3 and 5 kilometers in areas affected by dust.
The forecast for the coming days shows a continuation of hot weather, with clear skies prevailing and similar temperature levels expected through Saturday.
