Teenager seriously injured after falling down elevator shaft in Soran

SORAN — A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday after falling down an elevator shaft in a commercial building in central Soran, local civil defense authorities said.

Karwan Mirawdeli, head of the Soran Civil Defense Department, told 964media that the boy fell from the third floor of an unfinished building. “The boy is still alive, but there is concern about internal bleeding,” he said. “Our teams are working to rescue him.”

Four rescue teams were deployed to the scene as efforts continued to extract the boy from the shaft.

Soran serves as the administrative center of the Soran Autonomous Administration in Erbil governorate.
