Seven students injured in minibus-truck collision near Qamisha village

DUKAN — Seven students were injured Saturday when a school transport minibus collided with a cargo truck on the Dukan–Khalakan road near the village of Qamisha, local civil defense officials said.

Hamad Mustafa, spokesperson for the Shahid Sabah Emergency Response Center, told 964media the accident occurred on a busy stretch commonly used by school vehicles and delivery trucks. “A short time ago on the Dukan–Khalakan road, near Qamisha village, a school transport minibus collided with a cargo truck, resulting in injuries to seven students,” he said.

Most of the injuries were minor, according to officials. “Only two of the students were taken to the hospital for further examination to confirm their condition,” Mustafa added.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Saturday’s collision follows a similar incident on April 30, when a school bus from Brayati Primary School in Sulaymaniyah overturned near the Kune Masi picnic area in Sharbazher district, injuring 14 students.
