Iraq, Qatar discuss transport ties and investment in Development Road project
BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met Sunday with Qatari Minister of Transport Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Thani to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics, with a focus on investment and the Development Road project.
The $17 billion project aims to link the Gulf region to Turkey and Europe through a network of ports, railways, and highways across Iraq.
According to a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office, the talks included discussions on “establishing integrated ventures along the route to boost economic growth” and enhancing joint efforts in managing public transport, ports, and airports.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Sunday, with the Minister of Transport of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani.
They reviewed bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen it, with a focus on enhancing partnership and investment in the transportation, logistics, and port sectors. Discussions also addressed advancing the strategic Development Road project and exploring opportunities to establish integrated ventures along the route to boost economic growth.
The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation in the management of public transportation, ports, and airports, as well as expanding prospects in the aviation sector to stimulate transport and trade across various levels and domains.
