Iraqi electoral commission extends deadline for coalition registration
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission announced Sunday that it has extended the registration deadline for political coalitions seeking to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The new deadline is now set for the end of official working hours on May 14.
The original cutoff was scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. However, the Board of Commissioners approved an extension, the commission said in a statement.
According to available data, 71 political coalitions and parties have completed registration. No additional coalitions have been submitted beyond those already on record.
Iraq’s next parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on Nov. 11, 2025.
