Local firm in Ranya offers vehicles to families for spring getaways

SULAYMANIYAH — A company in Ranya, the center of the Raparin Autonomous Administration in Sulaymaniyah governorate, has launched an initiative to provide vehicles to families without cars, enabling them to enjoy day trips and outings. The company’s owner confirmed that five vehicles are currently available for this purpose.

The initiative, led by Barakat Group—a company primarily focused on bread production—aims to support low-income families. In the Kurdistan Region, the spring season transforms the area into a vast natural resort, with pleasant weather and stunning landscapes encouraging family outings.

“We want to offer assistance and support to families, especially those who do not own cars,” said Wshyar Ibrahim, the company’s owner, in an interview with 964media. “These cars are provided to families without any conditions, solely to allow them to enjoy trips or outings. Afterward, they return the vehicles so that other families can benefit as well.”

The vehicles being offered are mostly pickup trucks from models between 2006 and 2009. This initiative builds on a similar effort in 2018, when the company made one car available for families on a smaller scale.

Looking ahead, the company also plans to provide a dedicated vehicle to serve patients with cancer from Ranya, facilitating transportation to Hiwa Hospital in Sulaymaniyah. “We are working to provide this vehicle soon, and it will be available 24/7 to assist patients in need,” Ibrahim added.
