Kurdistan region launches app to instantly notify drivers of traffic violations

ERBIL, September 11 — The Kurdistan region’s Ministry of Interior has announced the launch of a mobile application that will instantly notify drivers of traffic violations, requiring that fines be paid within one month or face the potential doubling of penalties for those who fail to comply.

Hemn Mirani, Director-General of the Ministry of Interior for the Kurdistan region, told 964: “The application will come into effect in six months. Drivers will be required to pay fines within one month, or else they will face a one-time doubling of the penalties. Existing fines or those occurring during the next six months will not be subject to doubling.”
