Authorities arrest two travelers at Shalamjah border crossing

SHALAMJAH — The Border Ports Authority disclosed the capture of two individuals at the Shalamjah border crossing on Saturday, attempting to smuggle drugs into the country concealed within plastic boxes. Acting on directives from Major General Dr. Omar Adnan Al-Waeli to intensify scrutiny of travelers and goods, the arrests were a collaborative effort between the Customs Police and the Drug Division.

Authorities say the suspects were found with approximately 540 grams of suspected marijuana and 388 grams of a substance believed to be hashish, hidden inside plastic washing powder boxes. The seized items and individuals have been transferred to the Shalamjah Customs Police Station for further legal proceedings.
