Duhok hosts free bee care workshop for residents
DUHOK — The Duhok Agriculture Directorate has launched a three-day bee care workshop in Duhok, attracting 25 local residents keen on advancing their beekeeping skills. This initiative is aimed at bolstering the beekeeping profession through a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice.
Avin Selim, an agricultural engineer leading the workshop, emphasized its accessibility and no-cost policy to all interested individuals in the area. “The workshop encompasses a comprehensive curriculum over three days, focusing on the growth stages of bees among other vital aspects of bee care,” Selim informed 964media.
This workshop is a part of a wider strategy to nurture and support aspiring beekeepers. “Our goal is to conduct these workshops regularly to foster a deeper understanding and proficiency in beekeeping,” Selim elaborated, highlighting the burgeoning interest in beekeeping within Duhok.
The significance of these educational sessions is underscored by Duhok’s substantial beekeeping community, which comprises 3,213 beekeepers and produces over 127,000 kilograms of honey annually. Selim advocates for the continuation of such workshops to further enrich the local expertise in beekeeping.
