Sharazur teachers take their protest inside education directorate building
SHARAZUR — Teachers in Sharazur district escalated their demonstrations on Wednesday, moving their protest inside the Sharazur Education Directorate building in a more direct confrontation with education authorities.
Teachers began their demonstration outside the building before moving into the courtyard. Protester Saad Taqi told 964media that teachers wanted to make sure officials inside the building heard their grievances.
Taqi also stated that protests and boycotts would continue until teachers’ demands were met, including full and on-time payment of salaries, access to promotion opportunities, and the conversion of temporary contracts into permanent ones.
The escalation follows similar protests by teachers across the Kurdistan Region, highlighting ongoing concerns about worker conditions and compensation within the education sector.
