Littering and improper waste disposal

Qaradagh municipality concerned over environmental negligence

QARADAGH — The Qaradagh municipality has raised concerns about neglect in maintaining environmental cleanliness, highlighting a persistent issue with littering and the improper disposal of waste and debris.

The municipality recently undertook the cleaning of the main road in the village of Garazile, where municipal workers were observed collecting litter and debris left by the community, as shown in published images.

Dilivan Ali, mayor of Qaradagh, told 964media that this is not the first instance of residents disposing of their waste improperly, noting that such behavior has occurred multiple times previously.

Ali expressed the hope that the community would become more mindful and appreciative of the cleaning workers’ efforts, who labor tirelessly to keep the area clean, regardless of weather conditions.

Ali had previously informed 964media that bins had been placed throughout several villages in the region to promote proper waste collection. However, this effort has faced challenges, as bins are often found overflowing or are vandalized and stolen, exacerbating the waste management problem.

In the Qaradagh region, which encompasses 86 villages, waste collection and disposal responsibilities are contracted to the Oranos Company, with the municipality monitoring operations to ensure compliance with environmental standards and cleanliness.
