Duhok’s Zawa Mountain tourism project enters Phase II

DUHOK, January 21 – The Zawa Mountain tourism project in Duhok is advancing into its second phase following the completion of its first, which included a cable car and huge mountaintop park. Plans for this new phase include the construction of hotels, motels, eateries, and cafeterias.

Shemal Hirori, spokesperson for the Duhok Tourism and Antiquities, told 964media about the project’s significant impact on regional tourism. “The Zawa Mountain project has elevated Duhok as a tourist destination, attracting tourists, youths, and families year-round,” he stated.

Hirori provided details on the forthcoming phase: “We are now moving to the second phase, where we’ll see new hotels, motels, cafeterias, eateries, and a children’s play city. This development is crucial for further boosting Duhok’s tourism.”

He also mentioned that the project is ready to progress, pending investor engagement to initiate activities.

Tourism in Duhok has seen a notable increase in recent years, with nearly 2.5 million visitors in 2023.
